CCMESI, University of Bucharest

The Centre for Environmental Research and Impact Studies (CCMESI) is a research centre within University of Bucharest, Romania. CCMESI addresses cities’ sustainability and resilience by conducting research and applied projects involving urban regions and their stakeholders, including nature-based solutions (NbS). The centre has experience on developing digital tools for participatory urban planning, with a focus on the development of GIS-based solutions for stakeholders’ involvement. Within GREEN-INC project, CCMESI leads WP2 where the team will analyze state-of-the art of equity and justice of NbS by conducting a systematic literature review. Furthermore, CCMESI will support University of Amsterdam (UvA) partners in mapping urban vulnerabilities through a spatial analysis in Romanian case studies. As part of WP2, CCMESI will perform an assessment of stakeholders’ perceptions and values on the topic of inclusive NbS. CCMESI will build synergy across partners while implementing, through a collaborative effort, the surveys with stakeholders in the GREEN-INC case studies.

Our cases

‘Collentina Lakes Chain’ case study will be explored within an urban living lab.
‘The Urban Community Orchard’ represents an example of urban green regeneration
‘Văcărești Nature Park’ (VNP) is a space for nature-based solutions (NbS) experimentation.

Meet the team

Constantina-Alina Hossu
Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Environmental Research and Impact Studies
CCMESI, University of Bucharest
Constantina-Alina Hossu received her PhD in 2014 from University of Bucharest, Romania. Currently Dr. Hossu is a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Environmental Research and Impact Studies (CCMESI), University of Bucharest. Her research links socio-ecological knowledge obtained from the analysis of the landscape patterns and processes and decision-making processes, in order to facilitate sustainable spatial planning and collaborative decision making. Dr. Hossu has an internationally recognized profile and experience in sustainability and planning research gained through fellowships at WSL (Switzerland), MIT (U.S.A) and TUM (Germany). The topic of the GREEN-INC project on the inclusive climate actions (ICAs) and nature-based solutions (NbS) strongly connects with Dr. Hossu’ recent work on urban green infrastructure, NbS and human-nature connections. GREEN-INC project reflects Dr. Hossu’s research interests through interaction with topics that crosses both ecological and social domains
