Waternet is the joint organization of the City of Amsterdam and the Water Authority Amstel Gooi and Vecht (AGV) responsible for all water related activities, including drinking water production and distribution, the sewerage for household and industrial waste water and rainwater, waste water treatment and management of all surface waters, in and around Amsterdam. This unique combination of tasks makes Waternet the only water company in the Netherlands that covers the whole water cycle. In 2014 Waternet launched the network program Amsterdam Rainproof, which works with numerous stakeholders on a cloudburst resilient city. Amsterdam Rainproof itself use a network approach based on cooperation with the municipality, knowledge institutes, businesses (insurance companies, financial institutes, contractors, garden centers), citizens, local initiatives, social housing companies. Amsterdam Weerproof ultimately conveys knowledge about climate adaptation measures, inspiring and innovative projects, and stories by Amsterdam inhabitants who take the first steps towards a future proof of their city.
